I prepared some watercolor paper by painting it with a wash of red acrylic paint to create a very red background.
As I worked the pastel of Sedona's Cathedral Rock, I allowed the original paper to peek through in certain areas. This technique adds a little more red to Cathedral Rock. Touches of the red enliven the blue sky.
