Artist's Description
I spent the day painting at Cathedral Rock in Sedona. In the late afternoon the shadows are very sharp, creating geometric shapes that emphasize the solidity of these huge outcroppings. After painting the rocks, my eye moved downward encountering the incredibly soft and cool trees at the bottom of the page. These trees add a magic to these majestic peaks. I painted on a black paper which I coated with Art Spectrum coating for pastels, giving it a rough texture.
