This pastel of rocks on the Maine Coast has a soft feeling. The colors are muted and the strokes easy, with no sharp edges. This painting reveals the quiet, peaceful side of a rocky harbor with cottages tucked into the distant shoreline. There are no defined forms nor any attempt to create strong contrast. One could feel comfortable resting on one of these rocks.
