Description
Semana Santa (Easter Week) is celebrated in Mexico in many ways. The figures that are hanging in front of the buildings on the right are Judas (pronounced Hudas). They represent Judas who betrayed Christ with a kiss. At the end of the week these larger than life-sizepapier mache figures are exploded and the whole town goes crazy! This oil painting is a homage to the many months I spent in San Miguel de Allende.
